Willowbrook Wildlife Center Raptor Volunteer Interpreteres

Skylar

Origin of her name: LuAnn trained Skylar and named her Skylar because she was often looking up at the sky during training sessions.

Species:
Falco sparverius (American Kestrel)

Status as of November 1, 2015:
Okay to work. She has permanent jesses, so you only need a swivel and leash when you go in to get her.

Rescue Story: Brought in by Chicago Bird Collision Monitors in June of 2011 with injuries related to being caught in a rat trap. She is non-releasable because she's missing her left talons. Careful, she's a biter!

Here is a series of photos of lovely Skylar. Hopefully her tail will grow back quickly.
